Timeline of Greek History
in Thassos

Frankish Period

The Timeline of Greek History is of great length.
Hereyou can see a part of this timeline in Thassos.

During the Frankish Period Thassos was given to Enrico Dandolo, doge of Venice when the Franks occupied Constantinople in 1204 AD.

It was a place in Greek history that many ambitious raiders and conquerors wanted to occupy.

However, in 1306 Thassos was given to the Genoese Francisco Gateluzzi by the emperor Michael Palaiologos.

At that time Thassos had an increace concerning trading. The Gateluzzis were on the island until 1455 AD in Greek history.

Then the Turks occupied the island and after two centuries all sort of pirates Sicilian, Venetian,Slav, Calatan, Genoese and even Greek made invasions destroying cities and villages.
