Always keep in mind that traveling on your own means you can stay as much as you would like. You are not limited to 7 or 14 days. As soon as you know when you want to come it's time to arrange your flights. British Airways in 2007 seem to have the best prices with Olympic Airways coming second. Look for direct flights to Thessaloniki Greece. I don't encourage direct flights to Kavala, as they might seem a bit more expensive. Thessaloniki is only about two-two and a half- hours from Keromoti where you will catch the ferry to Thassos. You do realise what that means right? A large amount of money over flying into Kavala is saved and why not use it for a couple of more beers on the beach. More flight information coming soon. Once you are through with your flights, you can get a Taxi or hire a car from Thessaloniki airport to get you to Keromoti. The Taxi's cost as a whole is about 100 – 120 Euros to take you yo the ferry port in Keromoti. But if you are more people you can split it. On the other hand, a car hire costs around 50 Euro for that trip You may even want to rent the car for your entire holiday. Thassos information is here for you so that you can make the most of your stay. Another option is to take the bus from Thessaloniki to Kavala or Keromoti. Take a taxi from the airport to the bus station of Thessaloniki where you can catch a bus to Kavala. The cost of a one way ticket is about 15 Euros and the buses depart the station every hour from 06:00 till 20:00. In Kavala, you will have to do one of the following: As soon as you arrive in Kavala, you may have any of these three options. First you may go on a hydrofoil that will take you either to Limenas (Thassos Town) or Skala Prinos. The hydrofoil port is very close to the bus station. The cost depends on which hydrofoil is available and will be between 5 – 10 Euros per person. Second on the other side of the port of the hydrofoils are the ferry boats that travel from and to Kavala and Skala Prinos. The cost will be about 4 Euros per person. There aren't lots of ferries running between Kavala and Thassos, so make sure you know the schedule well. Third you can take another bus from Kavala to Keramoti harbour which costs around 4 Euros. You might need to change busses in Hrisoupoli. Make sure you ask about this when you arrive in Hrisoupoli(Chrisoupolis). The buses from Kavala leave the bus station about every hour (last bus at 20:00). In general, most buses stop running about 20:00. Fourth things are getting exciting. You are now in Thassos. Time to decide where you will stay for your holiday. Accommodation can cost as little as 20 Euros for two people and go up to over a 100 Euro depending on where you want to stay and when you will stay there. You can choose from a big variety of hotels that you see there or even book on-line from here(coming soon). Note that May, June, Sept and October can be much less expensive than July and August.
