Costis Pottery Costis is the heir to his family's pottery tradition. This brilliant art was brought to the island of Thassos in the beginning of the 20th century by his grandfather Constantinos Crissogelos.  Constantinos came and settled in Thassos a time when pottery makers were leaving Sifnos as they were looking for a market without big competition. Today Costis is the only one on the island who continuous this Art of greek pottery in a time when most people are used to massively produced factory products. Pottey was the Art that had flourished in Thassos and made the island very famous.  In the pottery workshop which was built in 1908 and remains untouched you can find hand-made, pottery wanders that will give your household an authentic greek look. The Pottery Designs Workshop is located at the pictureque side beach of Limenas/Thassos Town, the capital of the island. It's a 10 minute walk from the center on the way to Prinos village.  Here you can have a virtual tour of Costis Pottery and even order your own wonderful piece of Thassos greek pottery on-line.(coming soon) Have some of Thassos original pieces of pottery straight to your door!  Now Costis has opened a new shop at the center of the town at the pedestrian street. It's the little street with all the souvenir shops. Every night during the summer season Costis shows live how he makes his wonderful greek pottery designs. It's brilliant to watch him as he gives shape to all the pretty mugs and pots similar to the ancient greek ones.  Costis is looking for trainees. He wants this family Art that has been on the island through his family for a hundred years to go on and on.
