Greek Island Travel

Untouched beauty, historic sights, culture rich company, friendly atmosphere, and an immediate sense of belonging continue to draw us back to the island of Thassos. We return to the golden isle annually.

Upon visiting a holiday maker to determine our first vacation as a couple to our upcoming honeymoon in 2008, we have enjoyed the sights, friends, and superb food. The hospitality found around the island has yet to be rivaled into worldly travels. The hotel owner of the Socrates Plaza knows them both by name as they continue to return.

The food at the best restaurant on the island, The Nest, has superb staffing that are sure your glass of lush wine never empties, your plate is full, and your appetite remains satisfied. They even do live entertainment with bands, dancing, plate smashing, and even involve the guests as part of the festivities. Be sure to ask them to teach you a traditional dance while the live music plays.

Each day you have the opportunity to take an excursion to the mainland by ferryboat or on the hydrofoil. A perfect way to follow up a scrumptious meal is to have a drink at a local taverna whilst watching the last ferry come to port. You can enjoy a variety of beaches and scenery around the island, or just relax to the sound of rolling waves.

I particularly enjoy the horse riding adventures, racing along the shoreline to the sound of thundering hooves and the sand being kicked up behind me! Mark regularly accompanies the barman of the Socrates Plaza to find fish while snorkeling.

Sometimes we just take a relaxing walk into the mountains, or drive to a quiet place and watch the sunset on the beach with a romantic meal. Thassos has so much to offer and each year we discover something new. Thassos is a second home with adventures, relaxation, romance, and discovery for it's visitors.
