Greek Appetizer Recipe

A great way to start your ideal meal is with the wondereful
greek appetizer recipe.

This is indeed your time to create the memorable dinner you always wanted. And the in your cuisine can literaly make it.

We greeks love bread and we always have some with pour meals.
A great way to start with bread is

Garlic Bread
[4 people 15min.]
Ingredients:
1 head of garlic
500gr soft bread crumbs
olives
100ml of good quality oil
50ml of vinegar

Soak the bread crumbs. Squeeze well to remove the water, then weigh 500gr of damp bread crumbs. Peel and pound the garlic into a pulp. If desired more than one head of garlic can be used. Put the garlic and the bread crumbs in the blending jug and begin to blen them.

Add some oil and vinegar slowly and gradually blending into a thick paste, until all the ingredients have benn used. If the garlic sauce is very thick, it can be thinned with a little cold milk, though it should have the constistency of a paste or spread. Serve the sauce in a bowl garnished with parsley and olives.

Cheese Pies(Tyropitakia)
[6 people 30 min.]
Ingredients:
250gr butter or margarine
200gr of grated kefalo cheese
(or grated Swiss or Parmesan)
600gr of flour
1tsp salt
1tsp baking powder
1 egg

Sift the flour and mix with salt and baking powder in a bow. Add the cheese, butter and egg yolks. Mix all the ingredients and knead into a soft dough. Roll it out on a floured board into half a finger thick pastry sheets.

Cut circles of dough with a glass or cookie or biscuit cutter. Place on an unbuttered baking tin. Brush each with egg white lightly beaten with 1tsp. of water. Bake in a moderate oven for about 15 minutes.
