Cooking the Greek Way

Cooking the Greek Way means an exciting and fun way to cook.

Greek cooking is rich in different kinds of foods and drinks and goes back thousands of years in history. Every Greek meal is like a ritual and the Greeks have practiced the "Art" of cooking in many ways and manners.

Ingredients of the greek cooking

The basic names of cooking ways, foods and igredients have remained more or less the same throughout the years. The three major elements of the Greek Diet are:
-Olive oil
-Bread
-Wine

In Greece some of the products mainly produced are fruits, vegetables, cheese, nuts, grains and legumes.

They form the basis of Greece's nutricion. Very popular in greek cooking are spices and herbs such as basil, thyme, oregano and mint. As well as eggplant, courgettes and garlic. The greek climate is ideal for the growth of these particularly for the olive and lemon trees.

A fair amount of Greece-20 percent-consists of islands and moreover no part of the greek mainland is more than 90 miles from the sea. For this reason fish and seafood is a popular part of Greek Cooking.

In traditional holidays of Greece lamb and goat are also present. Beef, pork and poultry are plenty,

We should not forget the greek vineyards. They stretch all over the Greek mountains and Greece is famous for its wonderful wine and spirits such as ouzo and tsipouro. Ouzo is a sort of liquer anise-flavoured spirit and a trademark of Greece.
